On Skiathos Island (in hit film "Mamma Mia"), Orchard Villa and pool overlook breath-taking panoramic beach and sea-island views considered to be the best on the island, from a half-acre hillside garden and olive/fig grove.
The architect-designed villa (1988) has traditional blue shutters, red-tiled roofs and porch, and roof and garden terraces for sun-bathers. There's a large flag-stoned split-level lounge with an open winter fireplace, and British ‘pub’-style bar and open-plan kitchen.
Four air-conditioned twin or double bedrooms with exposed wood-beam ceilings sleep ideally 6 adults (8 max). The master bedroom has a new modern wet-room en-suite; and three guest-wing bedrooms share two shower-rooms with basins/wc.
Four French windows open onto a vine-covered walled patio with tatefl wooden furniture, for open-air day and evening living/dining, enjoying the same stunning views over the rose and flower gardens and sunbathing / party terraces down to the pool terrace. There's a handful of other traditional villas nearby , and within 10 mins. walk two small family hotels with scenic pool bars open to you, and "Olive Land" - one of Skiathos' best tavernas Area Details Skiathos island is north of Athens in the east mediterranean Aegean Sea, with village/harbour, airport, and nearest main beaches only 5-12 mins. away.
Orchard Villa is quietly situated 'above it all', on a low wooded ridge with stunning views over Skiathos Bay above Achladies/Vassilias beaches. Only minutes from all Skiathos offers, it's also far enough from the main road and airport to avoid noise. Nearby is a handful of unobtrusive neighbouring villas, and a couple of small family hotels with pools and scenic bars you can use
Skiathos is one of Greece's topmost islands for sandy beaches and scenery, with a spectacular coastline of bays, inlets, and offshore islands. Over 50 charming or spectacular beaches are only 5-25 mins. drive away, ranging from Greece's no.1 beach Koukounaries to away-from-it-all coves and inlets. Most are easily accessible, and SANDY - unlike many other Greek islands. The largest dozen or so feature sunbeds-umbrellas-watersports, and all but the smallest have tavernas. The closest are ¾ Km / ½ mile or so down from the villa(5 mins. drive, 15-20 mins. walk).
There’s boat hire for sailing, sea-fishing, or just pottering; two SCUBA diving schools, snorkelling, fishing trips; and minutes inland, wooded hills and valley streams for walks or horse-riding ... though many visitors hardly get beyond lazing at home under the vines with a cool drink on the villa terraces and poolside, watching yachts, ferries, and islands scattered over the 20-mile bay.
Picturesque Skiathos village with its cobbled pedestrian-only high street, shops, harbour, and marina offers scores of enticing tavernas for lunch or dinner, cool Youth-Zone night-life, and music in the open-air theatre.
Trips further afield by ferry, hydrofoil, or day-trip boat take in nearby islands (Skopelos island is scene of the "Mamma Mia" wedding, and the hill-perched town and port puts Devon's Clovelly in the shade ... )... the Aegean Marine Park (seals and dolphins)... and historic sites at Athens, Delphi and Meteora (but - rather long journeys).

UK charters offer conveniently-scheduled 3½-hr flights, mainly Fridays; Our meeters/greeters (local English friends who also maintain the garden and fix any house problems) also can save you any waiting-about awa from the villa on changeovers. Connection via Athens is by coach/hydrofoil (c.5½ hrs) or daily Olympic Airways flight (c.½ hr), some need overnighting.
For longer rentals, "drive and ferries" is easy - nearly all motorway from EU (min 2 days) and UK (min 3 days).
We recommend and can pre-arrange hiring a car... or use the efficient radio taxis or frequent island buses; scooters, trail bikes, and cycles are available. For trips to nearby islands or the mainland there are ferries, water-taxis, and day-trip boats.
