Property Details
A beautiful, affordable, modern, (completed in 2005) luxurious, spacious villa set in 2 acres of peaceful tropical gardens with modern amenities and pool. Nick’s Villa we couldn’t get Nick and Michele’s Villa on the sign hence the name, was built to enable us to enjoy the company of our friends from around the world – a place to meet up and relax. The villa, including the furniture was built to our design by local builders and craftsmen. All facilities cater for at least 10, though the rooms are oversized to enable families to share. All bedrooms have their own bathrooms and verandas, which face the pool. The villa has a beach volleyball court for those lazy afternoons and for the more energetic there are bikes (not modern ones) that are great way to ride around the village, visit local shops or the local temple or just ride to the beach for a swim. To provide shelter from the midday heat the villa has a high teak roof, ceiling fans and curtains or there is always the pool!! Approximately 2km to the coast and less than 1km to restaurants.
If you don’t feel like going out it is easy to organise a chef (approx $20 USD per day and he can cook whatever you want or pick something from the ‘a la carte’ menu you just pay for the ingredients. If you prefer to cook yourself there is a modern western kitchen and a Sri Lankan kitchen you can use the facilities to cook for yourself or you can have Sri Lankan cooking lessons (can be arranged locally) and take home some skills in cooking Sri Lankan food. If you want to cook out doors there is a Aussie BBQ.
A must to do is to have the local Sri Lankan dancers, fire eaters/walkers around for an evening – it will be an evening you never forget. They dance , eat fire and fire walk in the garden just for you! Area Details Bentota not quite off the beaten track has a number of Hotels and restaurants and shops. The town split by the river has a mix of commercial and residential areas. Nick’s villa is situated in the residential area and our neighbours are all Expats. The Villa is an excellent base from which to explore Sri Lanka from Kandy with the Buddha’s tooth, the tea plantations, Colombo and its retail therapy, Galle with its European influences, the moon stone mines, and the national park, Yala where you can go on safari; it is a beautiful country with fantastic people and once experienced we can guarantee you will want to return! Travel Details A car is not necessary.
Local Taxis and Tuk-Tuks are cheap and provide an excellent service.
Airport transfers and tours (Kandy, tea plantations, elephant orphanage or safaris) can be arranged with our house manager.
