Property Details
La Fermette is a beautiful farmhouse gite with outstanding views over vines, farm and woodland.
La Fermette - sleeps 8, two doubles and two twins - is a delightful Quercy style farmhouse, lovingly restored to retain many original features including a large inglenook fireplace and stripped beams. Beautiful uninterrupted views can be seen from every window.
Ground floor amenities include a large kitchen / dining room with inglenook fireplace and family sized table and chairs. Adjacent is the sitting room with delightful feature stone wall, exposed oak beams and fireplace. The central corridor leads to two bedrooms – one double and a twin, and to the shower room. A spacious first floor master suite, with seating area and ensuite shower room, and second twin complete the accommodation.
At the western side of the house is a covered terrace, perfect for a shady lunch or to watch our magnificent summer sunsets.
In the winter, La Fermette is heated by an open inglenook fireplace in the kitchen, and has portable oil fired heaters for the other rooms. Area Details We are just 5 km from Junction 59 of the A20 motorway, 550 miles from Calais. For those of you familiar with the area, the route has vastly improved since the opening of the Cahors section of the A20 during 2003. The closest airport is Toulouse (around 45 minutes) being served by a number of the budget airlines and of course, most of the major European ones. Many of the international car hire companies serve the airport and we would be happy to obtain quotations on your behalf. Catusse-Haut is in a rural location and therefore a car is essential. The nearest neighbour is around 400 yards away, so your privacy is ensured.
Tarn et Garonne is a delightful département famed for its bastide villages, fruit production, wine and truffles, offering rolling hills and river valleys, just perfect for cyclists, bird watchers, fishermen, walkers or just those of you who want to enjoy a quiet corner of rural France.
We are located at the southern end of the Cahors wine region and so the local wine is of a wonderful quality, of course very reasonable and is available directly from the local producers. To the south is Gaillac, and to the west, the Bergerac and Bordeaux regions – all within easy reach for a day trip.
The administrative centre of Tarn et Garonne is the city of Montauban dating back to the 12th century – standing high over the Tarn, built of the famous red Toulouse stone. The pretty double cloistered Place Nationale with its cafés and restaurants is perfect for a glass of wine over lunch after taking in the cobbled shopping lanes around the square.
Toulouse has a very impressive centre, focussed around the Place Capitole and has all the amenities expected of the fourth largest city in France. Slightly north of Toulouse, is Albi – a charming small city housing the Toulouse-Lautrec museum and garden – a wonderful experience. To the south is Carcassonne’s ancient city within fortified walls – an architectural marvel.
