In the green hills of Salsomaggiore, located on a 50 hectares farm, is the "Valley's Mill."
It is a structure from the end of 16th Century, which is a few yards away from the owners large house where they live and the residence includes a 64 x 135 feet swimming pool, a stable with English mounted horses, both an open and covered riding ring and a 2.4711 acres lake filled with fish. Area Details The farm is located in the heart of the food valley, that is well known everywhere in the World for its typical products: Parmigiano Reggiano, Culatello of Zibello, Ham of Parma, Salami Felino, aromatic vinegar and most of these product firms can be visited.
Numerous restaurants and trattorias (family-run restaurants) are close and cook mainly the typical dishes of the ancient Emilian tradition.
Few minutes driving and one can reach both the Terme of Tabiano and the Terme of Salsomaggiore, where there are also tennis courts and a golf course.
The area is surrounded by many castles, all open to the public: the Rock of Fontanellato with its frescos painted by Parmigianino; the castle of Soragna that - as the legend tells - was occupied by a phantom; the castle of Torrechiara where they made the movie Ladyhawke with Michelle Pfeiffer, and also the castle of Bardi and Pellegrino.
27 miles away there is Parma, a city which is rich of historical, architectural and art exhibits.
Other Cities like Florence, Lucca and Venice and also tourist places like Cinque Terre are reachable by car or train within two hours.
Every week there are flea markets for collectors, farmers markets and local fairs in the immediate area. Travel Details The Mill is 10 miles from the motorway A1 Milano-Bologna taking the exit Fidenza. The train station is in Fidenza and Malpensa airport is an appx. 2 hour drive while Linate Airport (Milan) is 1 hour far.
