Each apartment has a large balcony with table and chairs on the south side and a small balcony on the kitchen side that overlooks the small mountain stream, Liro. The apartments are furnished in an appropriate and charming manner. Front side view from the building overlooks beautiful meadows . The lakeside is only 500 m. away; restaurants, supermarket and shops at 400 m.
" LIRO " apartment ( 100 m2) sleeps up to six people. The upper floor has a double bedroom, an open loft area with twin beds, and a bathroom and bath. The main level of the apartment can sleep two more people on a pull out sofa bed in the living room. The open kitchen is equipped with a cooker/oven, microwave and dishwasher. A second bathroom has a shower and a washing machine. The apartment also has central heating and satallite TV. Enjoy outdoor dining on the balcony, with great views.
At 5 minutes away are two swimming pools ( summer), tennis, and extensive cycle paths that wind through the fields and along the lake. Area Details Residence Liro is on Lake Como in the region of Lombardy, near the Swiss border and north of Milan.
Lake Como is one of the most popular lakes south of the Alps. The mountains offer hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. You will find charming old villages, historical monuments and lovely gardens on the lake side in private villas, now open to the public ( Villa Carlotta, Villa Melzi .) The largest town on the north -west coast is Como , with historical monuments, and wonderful shops for that special purchase of Italian fashion. There are weekly markets where you can find everything from designer shoes and bags to pots and pans. The old Roman road passes through Cernobbio ( Villa d’Este), Menaggio ( golf course ), past Isola Comacina ( the only island in the lake) and leads up to Gravedona, and then up into Switzerland and Austria.
Gravedona area
Gravedona was historically an important village, the palace Gallium,and the baptismal church of S.Maria del Tiglio are testimony to its history . The area has a temperate climate in summer, and pleasant temperatures in winter favoured by the warm “tramontana” wind descending from the Alps. Being south of the Alps, especially in winter, there are many days of cloudless weather, and in summer, gentle rain which keeps all the foliage green. For golfers at least 3 golf courses are nearby including the oldest course in Italy in Menaggio. An excursion by ferry boat, crisscrossing the lake gives you beautiful views of the private villa’s and parks. You can also criss-cross the lake by boat with regular services. In Gravedona there are numerous recreational activities and water sports Travel Details By car through Switzerland Gotthard tunnel, Lugano, Italian border, Menaggio, Gravedona, or through Switzerland Splugen pass, Chiavenna, Gravedona.
The apartments are just 100 Km far from Milano Malpensa / Linate airport , budget flights,e.g. with ( http://www.ryanair.com or easyet ) arrive at Milano or Bergamo airport . All these airports have the main car hire companies, and bus connections to lake Como
