The tiny hamlet of Faysselle comprises three beautiful gites (sleep, 4,6 and 7) set in 12 acres of idyllic countryside in Lot-et-Garonne, South West France. There is a 10.5m x 5.5m pool, with a mini pool and waterfall, with plenty of sun loungers and space for sunbathing.
The gites have all been carefully restored to leave many original features including beams and exposed stonework.
All are well-equipped with washing machine, fridge/freezer, cooker and microwave, and all have their own private terrace with barbecue. All have TV with BBC channels, and either video or DVD. Area Details A beautiful area of gently rolling hills. In spring the area is covered in fruit blossom from the many varieties grown here |(cherries, apples, pears and plums for the famous 'Agen prunes) and in the summer the fields are breathtaking with acres of sunflowers.
The region is full of historical interest and was much fought over during the 100 Years War. There are numerous bastide villages to explore, along with colourful markets selling the wonderful local fruit and vegetables.
We are also close to wine-growing areas, and trips out can include the wonderful scenery of the Lot and Dordogne valleys, Cahors and St Cirq Lapopie, and the larger cities of Toulouse and Bordeaux. It is also a wonderful area for walking and nature-lovers.
Suggestions for local activities includes horse-riding and golf (two nine-hole courses within 30 minutes) , water sports and go-karting, or perhaps a less energetic boat ride on the rivers or canals. Parc Walibi is an excellent theme park in Agen (30 minutes) to keep the children happy, and there is a water park in nearby Valence d'Agen.
This area is also reknowned for its food (foie gras, duck, prunes to name the most famous) and drink (Cahors, Buzet and Duras wines and Armagnac. Travel Details None locally. Car essential.
